Brownie Bear goes to the Beach

I was allowed to do a guest post last year and decided that it was time to do another one. I wanted to write about my adventures at the beach. The family went to Gulf Shores, AL in June. This was Ainsley's first time at the beach and she loved it! You'll see pictures of the family later, but I wanted to share my pictures first. We left after Mitch got off work on Friday. Our first stop was for supper at McAllister's deli in Monroe, LA. They have the best tea!

After another several hours on the road we arrived in Hattiesburg, MS to spend the night. It was late and we were all tired. No one really slept well that night but me.

The next morning we drove to Mobile, AL to tour the USS Alabama. It was a huge battleship with lots of cool things to see and do. I think I would be a pretty good sailor.

After that we drove down to Gulf Shores. We found our house and couldn't wait to get to the beach. This was the view from our deck. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

We spent the next week waking up, eating breakfast and hitting the sand. I enjoyed catching some rays.

One day we went to the Gulf Shores State Park pier and watched people catching fish. They wouldn't let me sit on the rail over the water in case I fell off. I guess they couldn't really catch me as easily in the ocean as they did in the lake last year!

We spent our days on the beach and would go out to eat at night. I got to go along a few times. Here I am at a restaurant called Tacky Jack's waiting while the kids played in the sand. Later we got ice cream! Chocolate chip is my favorite.

We had a great week on the beach. We played in the sand, splashed in the waves (well, the family did anyway), collected seashells, looked for sand crabs, waved at boats and airplanes, took walks on the beach, ate great seafood, endured thunderstorms at night (that shook the house and made it whistle), and relaxed on the deck. After a good time, we headed home the next Saturday. We stopped at a little produce stand to pick up a few things.

The kids and I did alright in the backseat on the way home. We napped, watched movies, played "I Spy" and read books. We stopped at the Mississippi Welcome Center in Jackson, just a few hours from home. We stretched our legs and enjoyed the view of the mighty Mississippi. We also saw a cool cannon.

Mitch got tired of driving, so he let me help for awhile.

Another stop in Monroe, this time at Cracker Barrel for supper, and we were in the home stretch. It was good to get away for vacation, but it was nice to be home too. Ainsley and I sleep much better in her bed!
