Easter 2011

The weeks leading up to Easter were busy ones for us. Will started t-ball practice, Gill had a birthday (which I don't think I have any pictures from, at least not readily available), the kids had 3 egg hunts and Will was in an Easter play.
One of the egg hunts was held at Harper Farm for First Methodist Church's members and friends. A cold front came through right before it started, so none of us were dressed appropriately. Ainsley wore G.G.'s jacket and Will charmed a lady out of her scarf! The kids were divided into age groups and sent to designated areas to hunt. Will's friend Summer was there and he just walked around the whole time talking to her . . . he was not interested in picking up eggs. He got one before they were all gone. The kids got to ride horses, which they enjoyed. They also had hayrides but it got too cold for us before we could do that.

Here are a few pictures from our church hunt. Will went into a different area, so we didn't get any pictures of him, but Mitch said he was more into it this time. Here are 2 of Ainsley's Sunday School friends (and Will snuck into the picture), Sophia and Lottie.

Hope Landing presented a play called "The Resurrection". There were two performances at the Arts Center on Thursday night. It was a sweet play that told the Easter story and described all the Easter symbols we use (crown of thorns, lambs, lillies, nails, etc). Will played the angel at the empty tomb when the two Marys arrived three days after Jesus' death. He and one of the adults (a solider) were supposed to roll the stone away to show the empty tomb, but during the first performance, Mr. Ross forgot. They did it the second time though, and then Will started heading to the center of the stage flapping his wings. What a ham!

The kids also did art work at Hope Landing that was displayed in the gallery during the play. Each piece was auctioned off with all proceeds going back to Hope Landing. I was so proud of all the kids and I'm so appreciative of the staff and community volunteers who worked really hard to pull this off. We are blessed to live in a community who supports Hope Landing and the children they serve! Papaw bought Will's Texas Rangers logo and I plan to hang it in his room.

Here are some pictures of us dying eggs at home.

The kids opened their Easter baskets Sunday morning. Will randomly stated one day before Easter that he wanted the Easter bunny to bring him a blue notebook for writing down the foods he eats. So, that's what he got, among other things!

After church we tried to get a few pictures, ate lunch and then the adults hid eggs for the kids (over and over)! I think we all took naps after that!
