2009 in review: January - March

HAPPY 2010!!!
Today is January 1st and one of the things we want to do this year is to document our year via this blog. But first I want to look back at 2009. I like to save my calendars so that I can look back at them years later to see everything that happened.
In January 2009, Ainsley turned 9 months old. At her check-up with Dr. Ray, she weighed 16 lbs, 6 oz. and was 28 1/2 inches tall. She was a good eater and would take her bottles of milk in her car seat or high chair. She was starting to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables and meat in the form of cut-up table food and less baby food. She had started to reject breastfeeding because she did not like to lay down - she wanted to be sitting up, looking around! She did not like to be cuddled much. In January, I quit breastfeeding her and continued to pump for another month, giving it to her in a bottle. I hated to give it up, but she was much happier.

In January, Will went to a winter play day at our church, First Baptist. He had a great time throwing "snowballs", "skating" and all the other activities they had. He even got a snowman hat that he stills likes to wear sometimes a year later.

Mitch and I had lots of Deacon and Service League meetings and other boring stuff! In February, Mitch turned 35. We celebrated at his parents' house with his traditional "yellow cake with chocolate icing" made by his mom. And, of course, we celebrated Valentine's Day (Ainsley's first). The kids loved the balloons they got.

Our friends the Aikmans came to visit one weekend. John and Annette live in Memphis now. They have 2 kids - Lexi, who is a few weeks younger than Will; and Matthew, who is a few weeks older than Ainsley. Matthew had just started walking!

In March, I started getting ready for Ainsley's first birthday the next month. I found a cute dress on eBay and had her name put on it. I had birthday pictures taken in it.

Also in March, I went with 2 co-workers, Allyn and Suzanne, to Las Vegas for a continuing education conference. I was nervous about leaving my babies, but we had a great time. We were in class all day for 2 days, but we had one free day. We explored the city from one end of "the strip" to the other (and back). We had so much fun!

All in all, the first quarter of 2009 was pretty good!
